The other map was set at night and had a difficult linear track. One of the maps was a sandbox map, it was a flat square surface with various surfaces and boxes probably present to test the car's interactions with them. The game featured two maps accesible from the get-go (there might have been unlockable ones but I never unlocked them). My mind's a bit foggy because I played it a long time ago, but you played as a car, which I think a drag racing car, but again, I could be wrong.

First time I played it was around 2009-2010 so that means the game was present in a version of the distro that exist a while before then.

I haven't been able to find a download link for the distro, and even if I did my Linux knowledge is very little so it may not have amounted to anything had I been able to install it. It was present in an old version of a regional Linux distro here in Spain, LinEx. I've heard that GTA V is a pain to get it working and often breaks, but other people on ProtonDB seems to be running ok, so I want to at least try to get it to work before giving up. I think the game itself is installed and should run, but launcher doesn't let me do it. I've tried to run install for Rockstar Launcher from Lutris - ProtonDB version does nothing, the other one "Rockstar Games Launcher version" does install, but then when I start it I can't click on anything with a mouse (the launcher itself has black semi-transparent overlay) I can only use keyboard to navigate it, but it doesnt start the game either. Tries to run the game, but fails, I assume because Rockstar Games Launcher has not installed properly. Please make sure all instanced of Rockstar Games Launcher have been closed (.)" I press OK, window disappears and then on Steam side it finishes install with DirectX and something about Vulkan shaders. I've downloaded and installed GTA V to default directory - I had it previously on a separate disk, but reinstalled it to default in case that's causing issues (but no & 100GB download took a whole day :/ )Īnyway, when I delete files from "~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/271590" and then try to launch the game, I get a pop-up saying from Steam - "Performing first time setup - Installing social club" then I get a separate black window with pop-up error that says "An error has occured. I am running Pop_OS 21.04, with 5.15.8-xanmod kernel, steam installed and forced ProtonDB to be 5.13-6 on GTA V and Steam (tried other versions too, but none worked). The problem seems to be Rockstar Games Launcher itself I believe, but I could be wrong.

In case it's Vulkan you should download it manually.Ĭreate and edit new shell script file similar to this example: ! /bin/shĮxport WINESERVER=~/MyGame/Wine/bin/wineserverĬd ~/MyGame & ~/MyGame/Wine/bin/wine Game.exeĪll the variables you've been setting in Steam launch string (like switching between Vulkan and DXVK) can be applied here. If you want to run DXVK game click "Install Windows DLL or component", choose "dxvk" and

Now carefully configure it for your needs and install required Windows software to your prefix.Ĭlick "Install applications" and then "Cancel" (you will be redirected to prefix menu)Ĭlick "Change settings" and select preferred Windows version (for example "win10"), Run WINEPREFIX=~/MyGame/Prefix winetricks. It's not recommended to use system Wine and system prefixes, so I will create them in a separate folder.Ĭreate a new directory (I will use ~/MyGame) and cd into.ĭownload Wine (I prefer to download it to my Game's folder, so it will be ~/MyGame/Wine ). I recently saw this post, so I decided to write a little guide how I'm running games and programs through pure Wine, because some old games are not presented in Steam library (or there may be other reasons lol).
